Swayde Griffin is going in the 110 hurdles AND the 200 and Lilah Smith is headed to state in pole vault!

Lincoln wowed us with his unique talents - presenting his year long GT/Independent Study Project to a small audience. He created a dynamic system for monitoring water temperature and moistures in various settings. Lincoln will show part of his project at the GT Fair on May 2nd - come check it out and be wowed yourself.

Academic UIL Success!April 4, 2024

4A District 24 Academic contest is in the books and Lago Vista showed up and made us proud! Congratulate these students when you see them! Those qualifying will travel to  Stephen F. Austin State University (Nacogdoches) for the Regional Meet on April 27th.

Viking Tennis competed at the district meet in Marble Falls this week. LVHS will send six Vikings to compete at regionals May 10 & 11!

DebatableFebruary 17, 2024

De'Andre Holcomb, Caliana Carpenter, and Thomas Rowland competed at the Debate at Westwood High School. Despite a high turnout of great competition for both debate styles we participated in, all three did extremely well!

For the Lincoln Douglas Debate, De'Andre won 2 out of 3 of his debates and narrowly missed making finals.

For the Persuasive Extemporaneous Speaking, Thomas and Cali both made it to the finals! Thomas skillfully placed 3rd and Caliana readily brought home 5th place!

DECA Champs!February 16, 2024

Four LVHS DECA students competed in the Texas Career Development Conference (CDC) competition in Houston. The Texas conference was attended by approximately 7,000 students and advisors. Westin Walker & Riley Caller received medals as Finalists (Event: Entrepreneurship Team Decision Making) for the International CDC competition. THEN, it was announced Westin & Riley advanced to Qualifiers for International CDC to be held in Anaheim, CA (April 27-30)!

Congratulate them on their academic success. Way to ROW!

National Runners Up!February, 2024

Viking Cheer wows again! They competed at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in Florida.

They are National Runner Ups and we could not be more proud. Way to go ladies and Coach Baugh!

CX Debate February 5,  2024

Jesse Welton and Peyton Brown competed at the District Cross-Examination (CX) tournament on Monday, February 5th. They placed 3rd after a day of fierce competition.

Culinary Art February 2,  2024

Culinary Arts Students attended the 2024 Texas FCCLA Leadership Conference in Corpus Christi, participating in the Texas Cupcake Presentation, an individual event that promotes Hospitality and Culinary Arts. Students had to bake, decorate and display 6 cupcakes which were evaluated on overall appearance, cake flavor, texture, frosting consistency, flavor, originality, safety and sanitation, and presentation.
Way to go LV students and Mrs. Janson! They brought home 6 Gold medals and 2 Silver for their Family Consumer Science Assessments in Culinary Arts.

FFA January 2024

The Lago Vista FFA participated in the Travis County Youth Show. We came home with 2 Grand Champions, 1 Reserve Champion, 16 Blue Ribbons, 9 Red Ribbons and 1 White Ribbon!

Boys GolfJan. 29, 2024

The LVHS Boys Golf Team participated in their first golf tournament of the season at Hancock Park Golf. The Blue team placed 5th out of 21 teams.

Burnet Invitational

UIL Speech and Academics attend several practice meets before their district meet in March. They competed in Burnet Jan 13th. 

Computer Science Team won 1st Place

Aiden Neel swept the Lincoln-Douglas debate tournament and came in 1st place! De'Andre Holcomb also did exceptionally well and came in 3rd place for the Lincoln-Douglas debate!

We also brought home hardware in Literary Criticism. Rowing right along to District!

   

All-State Band Jan. 6, 2024

Natalie Nied was selected as a member of the Texas All-State Band this past weekend after two grueling rounds of auditions going back to December. Natalie was chosen from over 10,000 students who auditioned at the Regional and Area levels in December and January. She will perform with the All-State Band in February at the annual Texas Music Educators Conference and Convention in San Antonio. This is truly an honor and we could not be more proud of her extraordinary talent! 

DECA Delivers!Jan. 9, 2024

On Tuesday, nine LVHS DECA students competed in the District 5 DECA Career Development Conference competition at the Kalahari Convention Center. Four students received medals and qualified to advance to DECA State CDC in February (Houston). Congratulate these students on their academic success.

Lago Vista wins its fourth-consecutive and fifth-overall #UILState Spirit Championship. The Vikings are crowned Conference 4A-D2 Champions and coach Katy Baugh was named the NFHS Coach of the Year! What a weekend for Viking Cheer!

Debate October 2023

 

The debate team has participated in 2 competitions over the last 2 weekends. On October 21st, they took part in the Salado Online Debate Tournament.

  • Jonah Farrington took 1st place for Informative Extemporaneous Speaking

October 28th, they attended the Lampasas tournament - the first tournament for almost all of the debaters.

  • Andrew Morton came in 9th for Lincoln-Douglas debate

The Lady Vikings placed 2nd as a team today at the District Cross Country meet and have qualified to the Regional Championships.

District Champs!Oct 5, 2023

Congrats to Team Tennis on their 4th year being District Champs and their 2nd year being UNDEFEATED District Champs! It was a tight match against Marble Falls with the Vikings winning 10-9. The team worked together to come from behind. Naidelyn Orozco battled it out to get us to a tied game and then Tanner Stegall came in clutch moving us into winning the 10th winning match needed that SEALED the District Championship!

    Lady Viking VolleyballOct 3, 2023

    Congratulations, Lady Viking Volleyball, for awesome district play last night (10/3/23). JV Blue won in 3 and Varsity won easily in 3 sets. Congratulations to Player of the Game Sophia Berg! Sophia had 15 kills and a 585 hitting %, plus 14 digs, and 1 service ace. Jada Malone added 9 kills and 6 blocks, while Mikayla Vasquez had 19 digs and 2 aces. Brooke Everett had 23 assists and 5 service aces. Freshman Abby Tristan added 4 aces.

    Friday, the Lady Vikings play Gateway here and finish the first round of district play. Make plans to be in the bleachers on Friday!

    Team Tennis (Viking Varsity Tennis) won their first Playoff match against Salado! Tuesday (Oct 3) they will travel to play Marble Falls for the District Championship.

    Homecoming 2023 was a wonderful night all around. The Lady Vikings volleyball triumphed over Temple in a thrilling Homecoming victory, and the Viking football team dominated Giddings in a spectacular win!

    The Homecoming royalty proudly represented LVHS with grace and elegance - congrats Sabrina & Eliel.

    Homecoming festivities culminated with a dance to end an electrifying evening.

    Cross Country - Living Life in the Fast Lane

    The girls cross country team has not wasted time in letting everyone know they are serious! The team has had success in 3 Invitationals - nothing can stop them now.

     

    8/19-Caldwell Invitational

    Lady Vikings started the season with a 6 mile relay placing 4th out of 14 teams

    8/25-Vista Ridge Invitational

    Sophie Seewald placed 6th of 97 runners and Hanna Simmons 13th and brought home some hardware

    9/1-Pro-fit Invitational

    Lady Vikings come in 7th of 27 teams-leading the Viking charge Sophie Seewald (12th/173) and Hanna Simmons (15th/173)
